Some weddings just happen naturally. Tuscany worked its magic: rolling hills, warm light, a little rain, then the sun again, and a rainbow for those who were paying attention. This wedding was all about music. About James and Eva. Eva and James.
Both musicians and with their band The Big Swingers , they steal the show at parties like no one else. But for their own day, they deliberately chose the opposite approach. Smaller. Quieter. With their hearts in the music and room for what really mattered. You can feel their sense of timing and energy in everything. Later that evening, they took the stage themselves. For many guests, it was the first time they saw them play together. That’s exactly when everything came together.
The most special moment of the day? The start of the ceremony. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful entrances we’ve ever witnessed. One of those moments you sense coming, yet it still takes you by surprise. Music filling the space, little Louis’s voice delivering a speech for his dad, and then Eva on her father’s arm. Just when James thought he had everything under control, he didn’t see this one coming. Goosebumps, so beautiful.
We often photograph weddings in Italy, and every time we understand anew why people come here. The light is different. Life slows down. Together with our film friends Remi and Pui-Yuk from Maru Films, we moved through the days as a team and played with what we saw. As far as we’re concerned, the film is the real showstopper. Just a little different than usual. And then there’s the wedding planner—they really are key. This time, as wedding photographers, we got to collaborate again with the team at Myrthe Regelt Het; always a blast. No chaos, just freedom.
Eva wore a wedding dress by Edwin Oudshoorn. The day before, she wore a jumpsuit that Edwin made from her mother’s wedding dress. Beautiful.
